The Area
It would be almost impossible to list everything the area offers, but here are some of our favorites:
The cabin is steps away from the Middle Fork of the South Platte River. This is state land and you are free to hike, fish, bike or just relax in this area. There is a trail starting point marked on the map. If you like to fish, Montgomery reservoir is a short drive away. I have marked two locations on the map, both at the different water inlets. Unless your name is Seth, I guarantee that you will catch some rainbow trout in these spots.
The Wheeler Lake Trail (blue) is a
beautiful hike that takes you to a high alpine lake. There is plenty of info/photos of this trail online. This is also a treacherous 4wd trail. I would not attempt this in any stock vehicle.
The purple trail will take you up to the Cameron amphitheater. Sitting above the tree line the views are outstanding. This is also a multi-use trail.
You will find people biking and hiking on all the roadways and pathways throughout the area.
Breckenridge
The Cabin is a quick 20-minute drive to Breckenridge. Head north on CR4 towards Montogmery Resevior to save some time. If looking to ski check out the Ice Rink Lot or Beaver Run Lot(Paid).
Montgomery Resevoir
Beautiful reservoir inside the Placer Valley Community. Fed by waterfalls to the northwest corner. Excellent trout fishing.
